The process of installing valves
Despite the presence of numerous instructions for self-assembly of valves, this process, as well as dismantling, must be carried out by qualified specialists. It is strictly forbidden to dismantle the shut-off elements if the pipeline is still functioning and loaded with working fluid. Make sure that the pipeline is not under pressure. The tools are selected depending on the size of the fasteners. Be sure to make sure they are in good condition.
Preparatory stage
Installed steel wedge gate valves with a retractable spindle or other products must undergo factory conservation. They are delivered in the manufacturer's packaging. Deconservation, which implies the removal of plugs, begins only after the valve is installed on the pipeline.
Before performing these works, it is important to make sure of the following:
- the shutter is sealed;
- the packaging is intact, all the necessary documentation is available;
- the internal cavity of the valves is in good condition;
- the oil seal and other high-quality gaskets are given.
Deconservation
Before performing deconservation, remove all anti-corrosion coatings using rags or other soft material. Pre-moisten it in a solvent. If you plan to install large-sized and heavy valves, do not try to hang them by the wheel of the flywheel in any case. This will avoid unforeseen breakdowns and damages, due to which further operation of the flywheel will be impossible.
Before attaching the valves to the pipeline, remove sand, dirt and other debris from its internal cavity. Thanks to this, you will ensure the safety of the valve seat, under which various trace elements that pollute the pipeline and violate the condition of its components will not fall. The slightest damage to the landing seat will lead to a deterioration in the ability of the valves to effectively block the flow of working fluid. When installing the flange connector, make sure that there are no distortions.
Installation and elimination of defects
It is forbidden to eliminate distortions using conventional or shock deformation, tension. To prevent flattening of the gaskets, the bolts should be tightened as evenly as possible. To protect the shutter and the rubber gasket during installation, when welding is applied, unscrew the stem completely to prevent the ingress of a red-hot spark and subsequent thermal damage to the working surfaces.
Another problem is the sticking of hot scale droplets on the gate or gasket, which can also lead to a breach of tightness between the gate valve and the pipeline flanges. After the installation is completed, crimping is performed, then the main elements are flushed. When the cleaning work is over, you need to make sure there are no leaks on the valves. If a leak is detected, it is important to eliminate the defect as soon as possible and re-test.
