Design features of the rotary disc shutter
Rotary disc valves are often found in various pipelines. The popularity of products of this type is explained by the simplicity of their design and the possibility of self-installation.
Application areas and advantages
Rotary valves are used in the following industries:
- oil and gas;
- chemical;
- communal;
- atomic;
- shipbuilding.
The main advantage of the shutter is its simple design and low cost. This explains the widespread use of these fittings in various areas of the national economy. Depending on the specifics of the medium transported in the trunk, various modifications of products are used.
Construction
One of the main reasons for the popularity of disc valves is their simple design, consisting of the following parts:
- Rotary shaft. It is also called a spindle or rod. It can be monolithic or prefabricated. Usually the rotary shaft is equipped with protection against the impact of the working environment.
- Body. The disc gate is usually located between a pair of flanges with studs. The case of this type is called waffle. In another version, the reverse flanges are fastened with studs through special openings. There are also welded gate modifications.
- Rotary disc. It is necessary to cut off the flow. Performs the same function as a diaphragm in a valve or a ball in a ball valve. Cast iron, steel or stainless steel of the I4 brand can be used for the manufacture of the rotary disc.
- Seals. The quality of the shutter operation directly depends on their quality. In most cases, replaceable seals in the form of annular polymer gaskets are used. There are also variants with a rubberized body and a rotary disc.
